Term 1 Week 5 News

Today we had a Rice Day Liturgy instead of our usual assembly, therefore no certificates were awarded. We were encouraged to think about all the people who only have a bowl of rice to eat each day and to be thankful for all the lovely food we are able to enjoy. We then ate lunch with our buddy classes. Room 13 and Room 8 are buddies so we sat outside the back of Room 8 to enjoy the yummy food provided by our parents (Thank you Mum and Dad). Thanks, too, Room 8 buddies for sharing your space with us. We loved talking to you.

We had a lot to celebrate today:

Bronze Mathletics certificates were awarded to Conor, Xavier and Isobel. Congratulations on gaining your first Bronze certificate.

Ka pai to the top three Mathletes for last week: Rata, Liam and George.

Mathlete of the Week Rata

We also celebrated success from Saturday's Athletic Club Championships. Congratulations to Daniel, Elspeth and Eve.

A reminder that we have Run, Jump, Throw tomorrow - sports/running shoes and socks and for the girls shorts will be needed.

Our Stories

Today we wrote recounts. A recount tells about something that has happened. We are trying to include: who, what, when, where and why in our stories. We also try to write how we feel as well. Check out these photos of us sharing our stories with each other, then enjoy reading these recounts.

Last week I went tramping at Lake Daniels. I went across a rope bridge. It was bouncy. I went fishing. I ate a tadpole and a huhu grub. Then I went hand fishing. Dad fell in the water with his noodles. Then is was bedtime. The next morning I went surfing with Dad. There weren't any life guards. I fell off my surf board.

Last Tuesday I played rugby at the park. The people in my team are Amelia, Libby and me as well as some other people. One of the coaches was sick so my brother and his friend, James, had to coach. I didn't like that.

On Saturday I went to Korean School because I need to learn some more Korean words. I came from Korea when I was six years old. When I go to Korean School I do art classes and maths classes. It is a lot of fun. I start at 10 o'clock and finish at 4 o'clock.

I went to Neve's house and we went to Jellie Park. It was really fun. Neve did the mermaid jump and  then we went on the hydroslide. Then we watched people jump off the diving board. A big man jumped off the diving board and made a big splash. The splash went up to the lamppost and splashed Neve and me.
